Our Place

Our Place was organized in 2003 when a group of citizens who came together to try to provide a place to host safe, drug-free activities for the youth of Littlefield. The City of Littlefield donated the Laguna Park Community Center with the understanding that the organization would continue to rent the building to the public.

A display of fall and Halloween decorations

Our Place has continued to rent the building while using it for events such as movie night, dances, the annual Halloween Carnival, and various scheduled youth activities.

If an organization is hosting a drug-free event for youth, Our Place provides use of the building for free.

Our Place & South Plains Community Action

Our Place partnered with South Plains Community Action in March of 2015 to provide office space, and Community Action renovated a portion of the building in order to provide a place for the Adult Education's GED program, SPARTAN Transportation, and the Housing Authority.

The organization depends on rent from the building, grants and private donation.

Boxing Club

Our Place is also the sponsor for the Boxing Club which was established in August 2011. Initially, the boxing program was conducted in the Youth Activity and Community Center but was relocated to its own building because of the time and work involved in breaking equipment down and moving it when the community center was rented.

Juan Alfaro, is a certified boxing trainer and is coaching the kids. Training is conducted after school. Several local kids have boxed in competition and are gaining experience and skills.
